A warm welcome to Sea Lion Class from Mr O'Connor and Mrs Butler.
Our curriculum
In year 4, the children become even more independent and opportunities start to arise where some children can take part in competitive sports events outside of school. In June, they also do a times tables check.
The purpose of the check is to determine whether children can recall their times tables fluently, which is essential for future success in mathematics, and to help identify children who may need additional support. Our timetable
This is what Sea Lion Class learn and when:
P.E. days
Our PE days are Tuesday and Wednesday. Please send your children to school wearing their PE clothes on these two days.
Upcoming events
We continue to try and be as open, supportive and welcoming to parents and carers as possible. As part of this ethos, we hold numerous events for parents and carers throughout the school year but you may wish to note these key dates:
Monday 3rd November – Children return to school
Monday 10th November – ‘Odd Socks Day’ to mark the start of anti-bullying week
Tuesday 11th November – Flu nasal spray for those who consented
Friday 7th November – 9:30am, Coffee morning with a parent governor of West Blatchington (a Pioneer school) and a Coombe Road parent governor
Thursday 13th November - World Kindness Day
Wednesday 12th November - Cross-country opportunity for children in years 4, 5 and 6
Tuesday 4th November - Parent consultations
Thursday 6th November - Reception and Year 1 Firework Disco and Year 2 to Year 6 K-Pop Party
Thursday 6th November - Donate Day
Thursday 13th November - Parent consultations
Thursday 20th November – 5:30pm, Coffee with the headteacher and a PTA member to find out more about joining the PTA or being a PTA chair
Friday 21st November – 3:30pm, Coffee with the headteacher and a PTA member to find out more about joining the PTA or being a PTA chair
Wednesday 10th December - Christmas dinner for children (Date TBC)
Tuesday 16th December - (Year 3 & 4 parents) 2:00pm to 3:00pm, Years 3 to 6 Cafe and Carols
Thursday 18th December - (Year 5 & 6 parents) 2:00pm to 3:00pm, Years 3 to 6 Cafe and Carols
Friday 19th December - Last day of term
Tuesday 6th January 2026 - Children return to school

Multiplication tables check
In June, children in year 4 participate in the national multiplication tables check.
The purpose of the check is to determine whether your child can fluently recall their times tables up to 12, which is essential for future success in mathematics. It will also help us to identify if your child may need additional support. You can find out more by reading the Department for Education parent leaflet below:
